Gothenburg Sunrise Walk
Join us for a 5 km sunrise walk in Slottsskogen, inspired by the successful Irish tradition of Darkness Into Light, as we come together to raise funds for Pieta and suicide prevention.
We will begin walking in the early hours of the morning, in darkness, and finish as the sun rises. This simple act symbolizes hope and moving from darkness into light.
This walk is for anyone who has struggled, anyone supporting someone, and anyone we carry with us.
Schedule 04.30 - Meet at Linnéplatsen Tram/Bus Stop 04.35 - Start walking 05.02 - Watch the sunrise at Bragebacken Lookout 05.10 - Continue walking 05.50 - Finish up at Plikta lekplats with a hot drink (and a breakfast roll depending on interest)!
Location Slottsskogen, Gothenburg (Meeting point: Linnéplatsen Tram/Bus Stop)
Donations All funds raised will be donated directly to Pieta, which provides free counselling and crisis support for those affected by suicide and self-harm.
If you are unable to join the walk, you are very welcome to support by donating.
Payments can be made to Swish 123-395 95 33 with the message "Pieta".
While this walk is inspired by an Irish initiative and raises funds for Pieta, we recognise that suicide prevention is a universal cause. If you would prefer to support a Swedish organisation, we also encourage donations to Mind or Suicide Zero.
Practical info: • Wear warm clothes (it will be early and probably cold) • Bring a torch/headlamp if you have one • The walk will be at a relaxed, social pace • All are welcome
If you plan to attend, please mark yourself as “Going” so we have an idea of numbers.
